MEET JOCELYN DARE
Jocelyn Dare is the founder of Nomad Dirt Culture (NDC) and an independent motorsport media creator with sanctioned trackside and infield access across Motorcycling Australia, Speedway Australia & Motorsport events. She specialises in capturing the raw, unfiltered reality of grassroots motorsport, from high-speed on-track action to the human stories that unfold in the pits and paddock.
With a decade of experience across construction and mining industries as a Driller, Heavy Truck and Machine Operator, Jocelyn brings discipline, rigorous structure, and precision to every project she produces. Beyond the lens, Jocelyn is a strategic architect of brand and business growth. She specialises in building high-value partnerships that translate the raw, emotional equity of the grassroots community into measurable commercial success.
Leveraging a decade of rigorous structure from heavy industry, Jocelyn conducts independent Social License Audits, providing the objective data and heritage documentation essential for track preservation. By aligning commercial objectives with the genuine, hard-won loyalty of the sport's audience, she transforms media coverage into a high-value business asset, positioning her partners not merely as advertisers, but as essential pillars of the sport's future.

NDC is the manifestation of a second-generation legacy, built upon 45 years of absolute dedication to Australian speedway. Standing at an imposing 6'5" with brown hair and sharp blue eyes, Jocelyn’s father, Ron Johnson, held the official world record for being the world's tallest speedway rider during the 1960s—dominating the tight oval lines at the famous Brisbane Exhibition Speedway during the sport's true golden years. Driven by an unyielding competitive fire, Ron famously declared: "I'll keep racing until someone looks like beating me."
Ron didn't just push the limits on the clay; he physically shaped the engineering and infrastructure history of Australian motorsport. A legendary innovator, he built what was documented in print as Australia's fastest machine in Australian history during the 1970s—his iconic, custom-built Kawasaki Sidecar outfit. He also engineered and constructed speedway circuits across the country, including the legendary track at the Ipswich Showgrounds during its peak racing era. This deep-rooted engineering grit and raw respect for speed form the unbreakable foundation of NDC's modern mission.
Jocelyn has further cemented this history by authoring and self-publishing ‘Big Bad Johno,’ a definitive biography documenting her father's 45-year journey and the grassroots heritage he helped build. This isn’t just media work for Jocelyn; it is a continuation of the culture she was raised in, blending deep-rooted industry respect with a modern strategic vision.

Most notably, Jocelyn was the first to formally honour and memorialise those who history forgot at the Brisbane Exhibition Ground, commissioning and dedicating a new Golden Plaque to preserve their names and the sport's heritage for generations to come.
