ALLAN MEIERS: HONOURING A TRUE PIONEER OF QUEENSLAND MOTORSPORT

Nomad Dirt Culture (NDC) joins the wider Australian drag racing and speedway community in mourning the passing of an absolute pioneer, Allan Meiers, affectionately known to his loved ones as "Pop."

Allan passed away peacefully with his devoted wife, Jean, his "little buttercup" by his side, leaving behind a profound legacy that spans decades across Queensland’s iconic historical racing circuits.

For the modern generation of race fans, it is easy to forget the raw, unfiltered grit that built the foundation of our sport. Allan Meiers embodied that era. He was a man who stared down high-horsepower beasts in a time when safety was secondary to sheer determination and mechanical innovation.

Historical archives capture Allan’s relentless spirit perfectly, perhaps none more vividly than in mid-May of 1975 at the legendary Surfers Paradise Raceway. Strapped aboard his blown $1400\text{cc}$ Vincent-Hrd, Allan was the definition of an early pioneer, fine-tuning a mechanical monster and pushing boundaries on two wheels to put Queensland motorsport on the map.

It is the legacy of trailblazers like Allan that Nomad Dirt Culture strives to protect. Long before modern developments and corporate structures existed, families like the Meiers gathered at tracks across the region, weaving motorsport into the very cultural fabric of our communities.

"Men like Allan gave us our heritage. They built the footprint. As a community, it is our duty to ensure their stories, their courage and their contributions are never forgotten. We send our deepest condolences, love and respect to Jean, Melissa and the entire Meiers family."

Allan has run his final lap and is now peacefully reunited with his son and daughter.
