The global footprint of Australian motorsport heritage is expanding in real-time and history has just been made on the international stage.
Anika Loftus has officially pulled on the iconic Edinburgh Monarchs jacket overseas, becoming the first-ever female rider in the absolute history of the club. Our grassroots talent is across the world proving exactly what Australian racing culture is made of.
From the tight, technical track at Armadale to a massive, hard-fought team victory to open the season, she is adapting, conquering and rewriting the record books.
These are Anika’s exact words directly from the pits in Scotland: Anika Loftus
”It was a really proud moment pulling on the Edinburgh jacket. Knowing I’m the first female rider in the club’s history is something very special and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to represent the club. Armadale is definitely different to what I’m used to, being tight and technical, but Im really enjoying the challenge. So far I’m focusing on adapting my riding style throughout the matches and practices I get and I’m staring to feel more comfortable with every ride.
The atmosphere in the pits after the win was fantastic. Everyone worked hard throughout the day and it was great to be apart of such a strong team performance. It was a memorable way to start the season.
Just a huge thank you to everyone back in Australia who has been following and supporting my journey. The messages and encouragement mean a lot! ”
This is the pure art form of Speedway. When you back the culture from the ground up, this is the global yield. Australia doesn’t just build racers; we forge international pioneers.
Keep dropping your encouragement in the comments below for Anika as she flies the flag and guards the heritage overseas!
