THUNDER IN THE DARLING DOWNS: Historic Roar Takes Over Morgan Park Raceway

THUNDER IN THE DARLING DOWNS: Historic Roar Takes Over Morgan Park Raceway

There is a specific kind of magic that happens when high-octane history hits the bitumen in Southern Queensland. Just a short drive over the Great Dividing Range from Brisbane, the quiet township of Warwick has erupted into a symphony of raw, unfiltered mechanical thunder as the QLD Historic Motorcycle Championships take over Morgan Park Raceway.

Organised by the Queensland Early Motorcycle Sports Club Inc (QEMSC), this isn't just another race meeting, it’s a living, breathing time machine. Solos and sidecars spanning eight decades of competition (from 1920 through to 1999) are out on track, pushed to the absolute limit by riders who refuse to let these iconic machines collect dust in a garage.

This year carries extra weight as the paddock marks a century of motorcycle royalty: 100 years of Ducati. From the distinctive Italian engine notes echoing down the main straight to the heart-in-mouth spectacle of passenger-flinging sidecar battles, the atmosphere is electric.

For Brisbane and South East Queensland locals looking to escape the concrete jungle, Morgan Park offers the ultimate day trip or weekend getaway. Local food stalls, open pit paddocks where you can chat directly with the racers, and FREE spectator entry make it the best hidden tourism gem in the state this weekend.

Australian motorsport was built on grit, grease and passion and right now at Morgan Park, that tradition is alive and screaming at redline.
