BACK OF THE UTE GRIT: CHAMPIONING 100 YEARS OF SPEEDWAY AND MOTORSPORT AT THE 150TH EKKA

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA

As the main arena roared to life under a cloud of kicked-up soil and the sweet smell of methanol, Nomad Dirt Culture took its place on the sacred ground of Australian motorsport history at the 150th Ekka Grand Parade. Bringing high-octane adrenaline to tens of thousands of cheering fans, the showcase united the precision stunt power of the TrackSkill V8 Holden team, the sky-scraping aerial acrobatics of Aussie FMX and a century-long legacy of speedway grit.

Packed into the back of the parade ute, the featured photograph captures a powerful convergence of Australian motorsport talent. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder on the dirt floor were Jocelyn Dare (Nomad Dirt Culture), stunt driver and motorsport icon Rhianna Buchanan, FMX athletes Brodee Rowan and Brodie Carmichael, along with Amber Carmichael and the high-flying Aussie FMX crew. Bringing together athletes, stunt performers and media from vastly different disciplines, the team proved that no matter the division, everyone on that arena floor shares the exact same heart, grit, and unstoppable passion for the sport.

Standing on the arena floor carried profound historic weight, honouring the families, volunteers, drivers, riders and legends who built Australian motorsport from the ground up—including the legacy of Ron "Big Bad Johno" Johnson, remembered by generations of race fans as the undisputed "King of the Ekka."
