Billyz buildz at 2026 jambo: Why a Two-Minute Pit Stop Proved We’re All Chasing the Same Dream

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM NDC FOUNDER JOCELYN

LOCATION: WILLOWBANK RACEWAY, QLD

Creators always have a way of crossing paths when the energy is right.

At the 2026 Jamboree at Willowbank Raceway, right in the middle of grid chaos around the Flip Side pit stop, I bumped into Billyz Buildz. In a digital world where people are often too quick to cut you down or look past you, Billy stopped. We shook hands, swapped stickers, shared platform handles and exchanged our genuine passion for why we do what we do.

Billy took time out of his day to listen to my story and followed Nomad Dirt Culture on the spot. Watching his YouTube coverage later, hearing him say—"Good to see chicks get amongst it as well. Loving the history and the culture behind the cars" (at 1:10:32)—didn't just make my week. It lifted my entire spirit.

"In a world where people are too quick to cut you down, the universe crosses your path with people who genuinely want to see you grow. Billy, huge respect to you for seeing—ME."Jocelyn

Showing Up Regardless

Heading into Jamboree, I spent months preparing. While media accreditation is never guaranteed, NDC’s track record speaks for itself—pulling nearly 700,000 organic views on a single drag feature and smashing over 1 million views in under 7 days after breaking a world record story at my last drag outing. When official media passes didn't eventuate this time, I didn't sit around complaining. I bought spectator tickets, packed up my family and went anyway.

A ticket price is nothing compared to the real stories waiting trackside.

Standing beside a red car just moments before meeting Billy, I spoke with a couple whose build represented decades of sacrifice. They had sold their beloved performance car years ago because it couldn't fit a baby seat. Now, with their kids grown up, husband and wife were standing trackside together, building those exact dreams back up from scratch. (You will see the Jocelyn talking to them near the red cars in Billyz YouTube)

The Real Soul of Grassroots Motorsport

That couple, Billy and myself—we are all connected by the exact same fuel.

Grassroots motorsport isn't a modern social media trend or a corporate marketing pitch, no matter how many try to rewrite its narrative today. Having the true 125 years old narrative in our archives of how Australian grassroots racing was born, the history is clear: this culture was built in a carnival show, backyard sheds, dusty paddocks and local strips by working-class families turning daily riders and drivers into weekend race machines. It was always rooted in community, grit and sacrifice.

Whether it’s Billy traveling all the way from Sydney with camera gear to document the scene, a couple rebuilding a dream they put on hold for their kids, or me building a media platform from scratch—we are all keeping that original Australian Grassroots Motorsport spirit alive.

Building a Legacy Out of Grit

Building Nomad Dirt Culture to 9.1 million organic impressions in under 9 months hasn't been glamorous. I carry every piece of this engine on my back—from website design and merch to business fees and contacting over 300 businesses—all while raising my 3-year-old daughter, fighting through personal grief and navigating my mum’s battle with Stage 5 kidney disease.

Having lost my dad to lung cancer at 13, people were quick to write me off. I'll never forget my high school English teacher telling me to my face:

"With the amount of days you’ve missed school, it would be no surprise if you became unsuccessful in life. You are failing my class and you will never be successful in writing in the future—no matter how many spring rolls your mother makes to try and bribe me."

Look at me now, 32, media business, writing stories that reach millions across Australia and the globe, self-publishing books and building an independent media engine from the ground up. In my perspective, real Motorsport journalism isn't about chasing clout for artificial 'credibility'—it’s about how far you’re willing to dig so readers feel true authenticity and maybe even heal a piece of yourself along the way. It was never about how many awards you win or magazine features; it’s about how many lives you change and how fiercely you fight to protect the real narrative over corporate profits.

I self-published a book about my dad’s 45-year racing career so my daughter would know who her grandad was. Nomad Dirt Culture is my promise to her—proof of who her mum was, how hard she worked and how we kept our family's motorsport legacy burning bright. It’s not just machines we should care for, but ourselves and the real people around us.

To Billyz Buildz and to everyone on the grid offering genuine mentorship and kindness: thank you for keeping the real heart of Australian motorsport alive.

Kindness Comes Full Circle

To return the support that Billy showed NDC and myself, let’s keep that good energy moving. True support in motorsport is a two-way street, so please go show some real love to a creator who genuinely backs the scene and elevates everyone around him.
