DESTINY ON THE DIRT: Australia’s Trio Locked In for 2027 World Championship Battle

Keynan Rew, Jaimon Lidsey and Rohan Tungate carry Australia’s proud speedway bloodline into speedway’s most ruthless crucible—with four tickets to the World Championship on the line.

LOCATION: Pista Olimpia in Terenzano, Italy

The path to international speedway glory has been set, and Australia stands on the precipice of making world history once again. The FIM Speedway Grand Prix (SGP) management team has formally confirmed the 16-rider entry list for the upcoming 2027 SGP Challenge, signaling an explosive next chapter for Australian motorsport.

Since the inception of World Championship speedway, Australia has forged an unmatched legacy on foreign dirt. From pioneers like Lionel Levy and Jack Young to multi-time World Champions Jason Crump and Chris Holder, green-and-gold riders have continually rewritten the history books. Now, three of Australia's finest are stepping up to carry that historic torch.

Over 20 relentless heats on brakeless 500cc methanol-burning bikes, 16 international gladiators will battle for just four coveted full-time berths in the 2027 SGP World Championship.

Carrying Australia’s Legacy into Speedway Immortality

The SGP Challenge is universally regarded as the single most high-pressure fixture in global speedway. For generations, this event has defined careers: elevating local heroes into world legends or breaking championship dreams in a fraction of a second at 120km/h into turn one.

Australia enters a formidable three-rider contingent anchored in national pride and elite European experience:

  • Jaimon Lidsey (Victoria): Former World Under-21 Champion with proven Grand Prix pedigree and elite gating precision.
  • Rohan Tungate (New South Wales): Former Australian Champion and veteran European league campaigner built for raw wheel-to-wheel warfare.
  • Keynan Rew (Queensland): The fierce leader of Australia's next generation, proving his blistering speed across Europe's toughest tracks.

At tape-rise, Motorcycling Australia holds an impressive 18.75% grid probability. On raw speed, racecraft, and pure Aussie grit, all three riders stand as legitimate contenders to secure a spot in the top four and etch their names into world sports history.
