Passion alone does not save tracks. Forensic data does.
Look at the graphic. That circular satellite overlay isn’t just a vacant field, it is the surviving geometric blueprint of a multi-generational cultural institution. Throughout an active era spanning from the 1920s to the 1980s, the Redcliffe Showgrounds were roaring with high-speed, grassroots bike and sidecar motorsport racing. This was captured around the 1970s with Ron Johnson racing in this meeting.
This specific footage from our archives captures the exact era where national icons like Ron Johnson, the 1963 Australian Sidecar Champion, the world’s tallest speedway racer during the golden years, dominated the dirt. Ron Johnson didn’t just race across multiple championships on this ground; he was a powerhouse promoter who actively drove the growth, infrastructure and community presence of the Redcliffe Speedway itself. He and his peers built the crowds, negotiated the space and proved that grassroots motorsport was a massive regional asset packing Brisbane venues to more than 10,000 people.
When we say our sport “owns” this footprint, we are talking about unassailable cultural and historical capital. But because the industry back then relied on temporary, individual race promotion instead of permanent institutional protection, the gates were left wide open. When the engines eventually stopped and the pioneers stepped away, the local council moved in and quietly wiped a 100-year heritage footprint off the map.
Today, while others launch temporary social media campaigns begging local governments for new space, NDC is auditing the undeniable historical fact that our sport already earned its right to this region.
Our hybrid media arm uncovers the raw evidence and our auditing arm locks it into The Social License Shield. We aren’t here to play by temporary rules. We are structuring the defense so we never lose another active asset.
Honour the Pioneers. Secure the Next 100 Years.
