MILDURA, VIC
South Australian junior speedway standout Kobi Canning (#48) has officially etched his name into Mildura Motorcycle Club history, claiming the prestigious Helen Wheatland Award for the 2025/26 season as the 250cc Highest Point Scorer.
The accolade marks a back-to-back triumph for Canning, who also captured the award in the 2024/25 season, reinforcing his status as one of the country's elite Under-16 solo prospects.
Representing his team with composure beyond his years, Canning was presented with the honour trackside at Olympic Park, Mildura, directly by Helen Wheatland—a cornerstone supporter of grassroots junior speedway development.
"It is the 2nd season in succession I have won the award. Big thanks to everyone at MMCC and Helen for all she does for us juniors!" Canning shared following the presentation.
Canning’s persistent form across the Mildura Motorcycle Club season highlights the burgeoning talent within Australia's junior speedway ranks as riders transition through the 125cc and 250cc pathways toward national and international contention.
