INFRASTRUCTURE REQUIRES HERITAGE. HYPE REQUIRES A SHIELD.

This isn’t just a “throwback” photo. This is the Ernest Baynes Stand at the Brisbane Ekka in the late 1960s. It represents a time when Queensland motorsport was an institutional powerhouse, built on the grit and governance of pioneers like my father, Ron Johnson, Australian Sidecar Champion, who owned and partnered in three major Brisbane tracks during this Golden Era.

While modern proponents are “painting a picture” of a future $35M profit, Nomad Dirt Culture (NDC) is auditing the foundation. You cannot “save the sport” by erasing its lineage. 

The Material Gaps:

Regulatory Silence: You cannot build a sustainable future while omitting Motorcycling Australia or the bike clubs from the conversation.

The “Governance” Trap: Dismissing speedway as “not like Golf or Footy” is an admission of low standards. Our sport deserves the same heritage protection and statutory rigor as any major national code.

The Social License: A $35M commercial gain is a private goal. A Social License to Operate (SLO) is a community mandate.

I remain the only individual to have formally honoured the 99-year legacy of Queensland Grassroots Motorsport Heritage at the 2025 Ekka Show. To date, there is zero formal recognition of our motorsport pioneers on the RNA grounds. This is a massive loss for our community.

While developers focus on ‘painting a picture’ for a private park, I am protecting the heart of the community that actually showed up by the hundreds of thousands.

We are not “staying in a lane.” We are securing the Bedrock so that the next generation can actually have a lane to race in. 

Infrastructure without heritage is a hollow shell. The Audit is the only Shield.
