You can take away a facility, but you cannot stop a legacy. While Queensland’s dirt track tradition goes back a century, dirt kart racing evolved as the ultimate foundation of that heritage and this community refused to let it fade.

A massive congratulations goes out to Sunstate Speedway Karts President Nathan Marks and his dedicated committee. Instead of letting the closure stall the next generation, they fought to secure a future, finding the ultimate ally of Lockyer Valley Speedway. The team stepped up to welcome and support this incredible grassroots motorsport community with open arms, providing a brilliant new home on the Gatton dirt.

Because of that relentless, collaborative drive, this club doesn’t just survive, it thrives. Despite having to travel outside Brisbane, SunState Speedway Karts officially holds one of the biggest club memberships in Australian dirt kart speedway racing.

Look out across the pits and you aren’t just looking at a hobby; you are looking at deep motorsport heritage. Many of these families represent 3rd and 4th-generation racing royalty. The knowledge being passed down in these garages is world-class, and the ambition matches it. For some of these junior drivers, this isn’t just a weekend pastime, this is the definitive training ground. These kids are forging the exact skills required to step into a high-horsepower Sprintcar or transition their racecraft over to the bitumen.
