SHADOWS OF GARY MOON: HEADLAND HEARNE RACING TAKES PODIUM AT SACRED PIONEER PARK

SHADOWS OF GARY MOON: HEADLAND HEARNE RACING TAKES PODIUM AT SACRED PIONEER PARK

When Headland Hearne Racing (#128) rolled into Ayr for the annual Gary Moon Memorial on Saturday, September 26, they weren't just entering another race meeting; they were stepping directly onto speedway's historic stage.

Opening night of the season and the crew’s maiden campaign at the prestigious Gary Moon Memorial began with high-stakes pre-race anxiety. Issues threw the pit bay into a race against the clock long before the bikes ever hit the staging area. In modern speedway, where precise electronics match raw mechanical horsepower, a software failure before heat one can end a night before it starts.

Yet, true to the grit of dirt track racing, the #128 crew wrestled the tech issues into submission, got everything sorted, and rolled onto the clay ready for battle.

ADAPTING TO THE SLICK: A TACTICAL MASTERCLASS

The Gary Moon Memorial presented a brutal, evolving challenge. What started as a track with plenty of action in the early heats rapidly transformed into a tricky, unpredictable surface in the second half of the meeting.

Riding smart rather than reckless, Headland Hearne Racing focused on the fundamentals, piecing together an impressive heat record to lock in 11 points and earn the third gate pick for the night's final.

When the tape dropped on the final, the #128 machine executed a calculated, precise line through the shifting dirt, coming home in 2nd place—locking in a celebrated podium finish to launch their season on a high note.

"The track definitely threw us off a bit in the second half of the meeting with how different it was compared to the start of the night, but we rode smart and focused on the important stuff... Pretty happy to start the season off with a podium and get some good laps under our belt."
