Not only did we get to witness a world record and a massive piece of Australian drag racing history down the quarter-mile at the Winternationals, but walking through the Willowbank pits felt like stepping into an active gallery.
Real motorsport is a living art form. It’s found in the raw, unscripted details that only true headers-and-methanol people notice: the precise, rhythmic way a crew chief sets up their toolboxes directly on top of massive superchargers, the intense, silent team communication where an engine tear-down happens in minutes without a single word spoken and the deep weight of generational family legacy being meticulously prepped to survive thousands of horsepower before the car even hits the staging lanes for that final, violent takeoff.
Every pit bay at Willowbank isn't just a garage, it's an open-air museum live in action, where the smell of nitro is the paint and the black tracks on the bitumen are the canvas.
Were you trackside at the Winternationals feeling the ground shake at the tree, or did you catch the action watching the LIVE stream?

I am a crew member on the A.M motorsports Nitro Freak funny car based in Brisbane that raced that car in the final on the weekend but unfortunately came runner up. No other motorsport can compare to drag racing, particularly nitro, for an all senses experience.
I’m a fan of speedway solos and sidecars as well, frequenting north Brisbane regularly over the years until it’s closure and would like to say thank you for what your doing for the sport.
