SYDNEY, NSW
There is no hatred in Australian sporting folklore quite like New South Wales facing Queensland. It’s the blue-blooded Cockroaches against the thick-skinned Cane Toads. This Saturday, October 17th, that border war takes over the clay as Western Sydney Speedway unleashes the ultimate interstate clash: Solo State of Origin.
Promoted by DW Speedway Promotions, this isn't a cordial club night. The program features 33 heats, 5 finals, and an all-out 'Dash for Cash' shootout where individual points count for nothing and state survival means everything.
The Tactical Masterminds: Boyce vs. Ward
In the Blue corner, former World #2 and New South Wales icon Craig Boyce is set to unleash the home-state swarm. Boyce made no secret of his tactical approach for the weekend:
"Great to be back at Western Sydney and get the summer off to a flyer. Done a fair few manager roles including Team Australia with Darcy riding so I’m looking forward to revving the nsw boys up."
Standing across the pit gate in the Maroon corner is Queensland legend and two-time World Under-21 Champion Darcy Ward, plotting an ambush on foreign soil:
"Hopefully get QLD a win and learn the track as it’s new to everyone. NSW home crowd so Childsy will be talking to them so it’ll be fun — but we’ll just enjoy it."
The Swarm vs The Invasion: The Rosters
The NSW Cockroaches (The Blues):
Indestructible, relentless, and scuttling into Turn 1 with zero hesitation. The Blue roster features Harry Ryan, Brad Page, Noah Grabham, Nepean Super Series winner Jack Morrison, and Tayla Street—returning to Australian dirt after securing 4th overall in the FIM Women’s World Championship in Europe.
For the Blues, rider-manager chemistry could tip the scales. Morrison carries massive form into the weekend, having previously linked up with Boyce during the 4-team tournament at Nepean on August 10th:
"Had a good few races only dropping 2 points throughout my heats, the speedway experience team scored good points with consistent results and ended up tie with another team which lead to a 2 rider run off which I was able to win for the team, thanks to Craig Boyce for being team manager!"
The Queensland Cane Toads (The Maroons):
Toxic, unstoppable, and ready to overrun Sydney territory. Leading the Maroon charge is Jacob Hook, fresh off international league duties in the UK with the Scunthorpe Scorpions, backed by Zaine Kennedy, Declan Kennedy, Viv Muddle, and Flynn Nicol.
Heavy Artillery: The Sidecar Invasion
Adding raw horsepower to the night's program, the sidecars roll out to settle their own turf wars. The field is spearheaded by undisputed GOAT Darrin Treloar alongside Jake Treloar—making Western Sydney Speedway the exclusive destination to see the Treloar machine in full flight.
They are joined in the trenches by Grant Bond and Tom Glover, Zac Campbell and Jason Williams, Bayley Ogilvie and Danny Cox, Mitch Harkin and Liam Cox, Mick Farrell and Brett Towns, plus Brad Pitt and Nathan McFadden.
