BRISBANE, QLD
Following an official announcement from Queensland Raceway confirming Supercars will not return to the venue in 2027, Nomad Dirt Culture (NDC) is backing the venue and South East Queensland’s motorsport heartland.
Queensland Raceway confirmed that the series has chosen to host three rounds in Victoria, all backed by government subsidies. Despite track owner Tony Quinn investing millions of dollars of his own capital into major facility upgrades to revive the event, Supercars has opted to drop the Ipswich round from the schedule.
Quinn strongly criticized the decision, stating Supercars had "used and abused South East Queensland" fans, played corporate games behind closed doors, and left dedicated local supporters "shafted".
While corporate touring cars chase interstate government funding, independent grassroots motorsport is already proving where the real audience lives. Last weekend, Nomad Dirt Culture executed a major trackside presence at Troy Candy’s "Candynats," engaging fans firsthand as the event made history with Queensland Raceway’s most packed-out Friday night crowd to date.
"Queensland Raceway's statement confirms what motorsport fans have known for a long time: corporate series will walk away from their most loyal base the moment another state writes a bigger check," said Nomad Dirt Culture. "Tony Quinn put his own money on the line to rebuild that venue. Walking away from that level of private investment shows a complete disconnect from the heartland."
Queensland Raceway has already announced a busy 2027 calendar, including a major international event slated for June. Nomad Dirt Culture is continuing to back the venue and champion high-energy, independent motorsport across the region.
"Supercars might have pulled the plug, but the stands at Queensland Raceway aren't going to sit empty," Dare added. "Grassroots motorsport doesn't need sanitized corporate politics to deliver world-class action. The real scene in South East Queensland is alive, loud, and packing the gates on its own terms."
